The Guanacaste area is home to five golf courses that offer a challenging experience to novice and professional golf enthusiasts alike. There are two additional area courses currently being planned.
Reserva Conchal - Five miles away is one of the most highly regarded golf courses in all of Costa Rica, the Garra de Leon, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in the classic tradition. The course borders 1.6 miles of white sandy beaches and the Pacific Ocean. The 72-par course is home to 7,080 yards of technical water hazards, challenging elevation changes and beautiful ocean views—challenging enough to host a professional event. But the ravines, lakes and fairways set against the stunning Costa Rican backdrop offer enjoyment for all skill levels. Howler monkeys, iguanas and more than 105 species of birds have been spotted here.
Hacienda Pinilla - Only a 20-minute drive from Marazul is another public golf course, located in Hacienda Pinilla. This 7,300-yard, par 72 course was carefully designed by Mike Young, famous for golf masterpieces all around the world. The course preserves the ecological balance, offering golfers the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the exotic wildlife that lives around it.
