INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS
Costa Rica has two international airports, the Daniel Oduber International Airport of Liberia (LIR) and the Juan Santamarķa International Airport of San Jose (SJO). Both airports serve most major international carriers. Even though Liberia is much closer to Marazul, the San Jose airport serves as a hub for domestic flights that offer easy connections to Guanacaste via Nature Air or Sansa.
DOMESTIC FLIGHTS Two airlines (Sansa and Nature Air) offer daily flights to the area. They both fly out of San Jose into Guanacaste. Liberia and Tamarindo will be the destination points to get to MARAZUL. They both offer car rentals for your convenience. Taxi and shuttle services are also available.
DRIVING From Tamarindo: Follow the signs toward Huacas. At the intersection, follow the signs to Flamingo and Potrero. You will pass Brasilito. MARAZUL is on the northern part of the bay. Duration Tamarindo-Potrer 15 minutes.
From Liberia: Follow the signs to Filadelfia. When you get to the Flamingo intersection, turn right and follow the signs to Flamingo. You will pass Belen, Huacas and Brasilito. MARAZUL is on the northern part of the bay. Duration Liberia-Potrero 45 minutes.
From San Jose: Take Inter-American Highway #1 North. Drive for approximately 2.5 hours until you reach the Puente de la Amistad (Amistad Bridge) intersection.
Via Liberia: Continue on #1 North until you reach Liberia. Follow the directions from Liberia (above). Duration SJO-Potrero 5 hours.
Via Santa Cruz: Turn left at the Amistad intersection. Follow the signs to Santa Cruz. You will pass Nicoya. When you get to Santa Cruz, keep driving toward Filadelfia until you reach the Flamingo intersection. Turn left and follow the signs to Flamingo. You will pass Belen, Huacas and Brasilito. MARAZUL is on the northern part of the bay. Duration SJO-Potrero 4.5 hours.
